Design and typesetting
Our design work, while entirely contemporary, is inspired and educated by the magnificent and ancient traditions of lettering and the making of books or codexes. We work with some superb typographers and designers to provide strikingly beautiful, elegant and communicative results. We also take pleasure in working accurately with supplied or series designs.
We are increasingly using InDesign to give significant improvements in typographic quality. This program also handles tabular material and pictures much more efficiently and robustly than Quark.
Unusually, we care about intelligent end-of-line hyphenation and consistent word spacing. We make sure our work not only looks good but also really does make sense.
